Going online, step by step
- Open the Haltech Elite Software Programmer (ESP) from its desktop icon.
- Plug the ECU into your laptop with the supplied USB cable.
- Power the ECU. If it's wired into the car, that means turning the ignition on.
- Click the Connect/Disconnect button on the toolbar, or press F5.
- ESP connects and downloads the map from the ECU.
- Check the status bar at the bottom left of the window. It should read ECU Connected.
If it won't connect
- Confirm the ECU actually has power. The power LED should be lit.
- Try a different USB port, and avoid unpowered hubs.
- Recheck power and ground at the ECU with a multimeter. Our power, ground and communications check covers this.
If the USB port is buried behind the dash, a waterproof Elite USB extension cable brings it somewhere you can reach.
What next
Once you're online, don't try to start the engine yet. Work through checking your sensors, then disconnect the ignition and disable the injectors before cranking to verify the trigger.
