The Details

The PCV circuit's physics explain the can's placement: when manifold pressure approaches or exceeds atmospheric, the PCV check valve closes and the hose sees no flow, but at idle, cruise, and deceleration the metered vacuum pulls hard on the crankcase, exactly when a hot engine's vapor load is richest. The can intercepts that draw and holds it, with the dipstick telling the service story; check at 3 to 4 weeks initially and learn the engine's rate. For the most protection, Radium recommends the dual catch can kit combining this PCV side with the chassis-specific crankcase kit, the S197 and S550 each having their own CCV companion. Closed-loop routing keeps everything emissions and track legal.
