One less port, one less return line, and no external regulator to find room for.

The Radium Engineering MPFST-R multi-pump fuel surge tank solves fuel starvation on a car with poor tank baffling, and it does it with the pressure regulator built in. A lift pump, usually the OEM in-tank unit, keeps the tank full, and the volume inside acts as a buffer so the surge pumps never see air even when the lift pump momentarily starves. Because the regulator returns low pressure fuel straight into the surge tank, there is no external FPR return line to plumb and one fewer port fitting than a conventional surge tank. The single feed line dead-ends at the engine.

The Details

Plan the return before you buy. The overflow port cannot be capped, so excess fuel has to go back to the main tank; if your car has no return port on the tank, one must be created, and Radium publishes a technical data sheet covering how. Pump choice carries two real constraints worth knowing up front. Pumps without an integrated check valve, the Bosch BR540 and the Walbro F90000295, should only be used as the primary pump in a staged installation. And the physically larger BR540 and DW400 interfere with the optional fuel level switch, so a tank running that switch is limited to two of those pumps rather than three. The 1/8in NPT port takes the 0-100psi gauge for setting pressure, and the level switch can drive a dash light, an ECU safety input, or lift pump control.
