The Radium Engineering fuel pump hanger for the BMW E36 replaces both the RH and LH fuel hat assemblies with a drop-in system that accepts one or two aftermarket pumps, brushed or brushless. Both passive side and active side fuel level sensors are reused so the gauge keeps working across the saddle tank, and a true crossover system is retained using improved components. No cutting or modification of the car is required.

The Details

The PRV venturi jet pump is the reason this hanger exists in its current form. High flow pumps at low load push excessive return flow, which on a stock E36 pops the OEM venturi jet pump connection apart, stops fuel transfer from the passive side of the tank, and eventually leaves the car stranded. Radium's version adds a built-in pressure relief valve to control that flow, and it also permits low static fuel pressures. The collector is fed from three directions: the OEM labyrinth that holds fuel during cornering, the constant low pressure regulator return, and crossover fuel scavenged from the passive side by the jet pump siphon.

Single pump installs can reuse the OEM fuel pump wiring, though upgrading it is recommended so the pump sees full voltage. A second pump must have its own dedicated relay and fuse. Pumps without an integrated check valve, including the Walbro F90000295 and Ti Automotive E5LM, can take the 20-1534 check valve kit in place of the fittings under the fuel hat. To carry delivery forward to the rail, the 20-1175 plumbing kit fits both the E36 and E46 hangers and includes the regulator, gauge, filter, and lines.
