The factory Nissan filter is a restriction the fuel pump pays for in current and heat.

The Radium Engineering fuel filter kit for Nissan replaces the OEM filter plumbed between the fuel pump and the fuel rail. Because the Radium filter is less restrictive than the factory Nissan unit, there is less stress on the pump: lower pre-filter pressure means less current draw, lower fuel temperature, and an increase in fuel flow as a result. The install takes under an hour with a couple of wrenches, with no cutting or drilling.

The Details

The two elements differ in more than micron rating. The 10 micron stainless steel mesh element is serviceable, so it can be cleaned and reused. The 6 micron microglass element is not serviceable and is replaced when spent. That trade matters as much as the filtration rating: finer filtration, or an element you maintain rather than replace.

The 20-1585 mount is for builds that already own a filter or are running custom plumbing; it supplies only the clamp and hardware, with fuel lines and fittings configured separately. Worth knowing that this clamp also fits an external Bosch 0 580 254 044 fuel pump, so the same bracket can carry a pump instead of a filter.
