Description

Injectors opening and closing send pressure pulses up the rail. Those pulses are what a tuner cannot tune out.

The Radium Engineering FPD-XR fuel pulse damper uses an internal diaphragm to absorb oscillating pulses and stabilise fuel pressure across the RPM range. It often cures idle surge with high flow injectors, and it addresses the erratic lean air/fuel spikes commonly felt as stumbling that resist tuning. This is the 3/8in NPT version.

Choose Your Part

  • FPD-XR, 3/8in NPT (20-0179): extended operating range, 40 to 105psi base static pressure
  • 6AN ORB male to 8AN ORB female adapter (14-0600): adapts an 8AN ORB direct mount damper to a smaller 6AN port

What You'll Feel

  • Stable rail pressure instead of oscillation that shows up as lean spikes
  • Idle surge calmed on setups running high flow injectors
  • Lean stumbles resolved that no amount of tuning would fix
  • Mounting at any angle, including upside down

Features

  • Extended operating range: 40 to 105psi base static fuel pressure
  • Anodized and laser engraved aluminum top, anodized body with 3/8in NPT male threads
  • Vacuum and boost reference port for correct damping at elevated fuel pressures
  • NPT tapered threads let the vacuum port be clocked to any position during tightening
  • Safe for all fuel types including E85
  • Includes 4mm ID rubber vacuum hose and vacuum hose Y-fitting

The Details

Choose by base static fuel pressure, measured with the pump running and no vacuum line connected to the regulator. The FPD-R covers 40 to 70psi; this FPD-XR covers 40 to 105psi. If your base pressure stays under 70psi there is usually no advantage to the extra range unit. The exception: if rising rate pressure exceeds 70psi but never passes 105psi and never falls under 40psi in vacuum, the XR lets you run without a vacuum line where the standard unit would need one.

Dampers mount at any angle, and for best results should mount directly onto the fuel rail. Some fuel systems need more than one, and some benefit from a damper on the return line. The 14-0600 adapter is here because it steps an 8AN ORB damper down to a 6AN port when the rail's port sizing does not match.

Kit Includes

  • Anodized and laser engraved aluminum top
  • Anodized aluminum body with 3/8in NPT male threads
  • Stainless steel hardware
  • 4mm ID rubber vacuum hose and vacuum hose Y-fitting

Applications

  • Universal, any 3/8in NPT female threaded port
  • The 14-0600 adapter suits 6AN ORB female ports with 8AN ORB dampers

Important Notes

  • Dampers CANNOT be used with mechanical fuel pumps. These create pressure pulses far too strong for the internal diaphragm and will rupture it in short order.
  • Dampers CANNOT be used with direct injection. Direct injection high pressure pumps will likewise rupture the diaphragm.
  • NPT threads require sealant
  • Check that you have space around the port for the damper body before ordering
