Description

The Focus RS runs a mechanical high-pressure pump downstream of its filter, which makes that filter the guardian of the priciest part in the fuel system.

The Radium Engineering Fuel Filter Kit for the 2016-2018 Focus RS replaces the OEM fuel filter plumbed between the electric lift pump and the mechanical high-pressure pump with a serviceable Radium filter assembly. Installation takes minutes with no cutting or drilling, and the element choice is yours: 6 micron microglass (20-0332-05) for maximum capture, or 10 micron cellulose paper (20-0332-03). When the element loads up, you swap it instead of buying a sealed OEM unit again.

The Details

The RS's direct injection architecture is what raises the stakes here. The in-tank electric pump lifts fuel forward through this filter to the engine-driven mechanical pump, which multiplies pressure for the injectors; debris that passes the filter meets precision-lapped surfaces in that mechanical pump first, and DI pump internals do not forgive contamination. Radium's kit takes over the OEM filter's position in that chain with an element you can actually service, and the media choice follows the standard logic: microglass captures finer particles and gets replaced at end of life, cellulose filters at 10 microns as the economical route. This kit is RS-specific and does not fit the Focus ST, whose fuel system differs.
