The Details

AN unions and reducers earn their keep at the boundaries between components, where a can's fitting, a hose's termination, and a port's size rarely agree on their own, and the flare discipline holds at every end: dry and clean, hand threaded to full engagement, then 1/4 to 1/2 turn past with two wrenches so torque never twists the hose.
