Description

Oil in the intercooler is not a cosmetic problem. It measurably lowers heat exchange efficiency, and the crankcase vent is where it comes from.

Radium Engineering Fluid Lock catch can kits for the Nissan S15 Silvia and 200SX draw oil and water condensation out of the crankcase gases before they reach the intake, keeping the intake pipe, throttle body, and intercooler core clean. These are closed loop systems that do not vent to atmosphere, so they are emissions and track legal: filtered air routes back into the engine to be burned, which also promotes negative crankcase pressure. Both kits mount using factory holes with no cutting, drilling, or permanent modification.

Choose Your Kit

  • PCV Catch Can Kit (20-0635-FL): mounts to 3 OEM threaded bosses in the RH corner near the firewall, inline between the PCV valve and intake manifold
  • CCV Catch Can Kit (20-0636-FL): mounts to 2 of the wiper motor mounts, inline between the crankcase vent port and the intake pipe
  • Dual Catch Can Kit (20-0637-FL): both kits together, Radium's recommendation for complete protection

What You'll Feel

  • An intercooler that keeps its efficiency instead of collecting an oil film
  • A clean intake pipe and throttle body on a hard-driven SR20DET
  • Fluid Lock protection: the can cannot overfill and dump contaminants back into the intake
  • A closed system that passes tech and keeps oil smell out of the cabin
  • Bolt-in mounting on factory holes, no drilling

Features

  • Patented Fluid Lock system preventing reservoir overfill
  • 7 fluid ounce baffled can with O-ring sealed dipstick for easy inspection
  • Large 10AN ORB inlet and outlet ports, 4AN ORB drain port
  • 2-step oil separation baffling
  • Nissan-specific mounting brackets
  • AN adapter fittings, hose ends, Radium PCV hose, and stainless steel hardware

The Details

The two circuits address different halves of the crankcase and neither substitutes for the other. The PCV hose sees metered vacuum at idle, steady cruise, and deceleration, drawing crankcase vapour, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the manifold right after a hard run. The CCV line sits at atmospheric pressure at low load but flows hard out of the crankcase at wide open throttle, sending oil into the air filter intake pipe where it spreads into the intercooler.

Radium is explicit that the CCV kit does not address blow-by from the PCV side, and recommends the two be used together. If you intend to run both eventually, the 20-0637-FL dual kit is the cleaner purchase. No fixed emptying interval applies: check the dipstick at three to four weeks and set your own schedule, noting PCV cans typically collect more than CCV cans.

Kit Includes

  • Baffled Fluid Lock oil catch can, or two cans on the dual kit
  • Nissan-specific mounting bracket(s)
  • AN adapter fittings and hose ends
  • Radium PCV hose
  • Stainless steel hardware

Applications

  • Nissan Silvia S15
  • Nissan 200SX S15

Important Notes

  • The CCV kit alone does not address blow-by from the PCV side of the crankcase; the two kits are complementary
