Description

The VQ35 draws crankcase vapour, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the manifold right after every hard run.

Radium Engineering Fluid Lock catch can kits for the Nissan 350Z, Fairlady, Skyline V35, and Infiniti G35 intercept that before it reaches the intake. These are closed loop systems that do not vent to atmosphere, so they are emissions and track legal: oil and sludge are removed and the gases route back to the engine to be burned, which also promotes negative crankcase pressure and keeps oil vapour out of the cabin. The kits mount using factory holes with no cutting, drilling, or permanent modification.

Choose Your Kit

  • PCV Catch Can Kit (20-0728-FL): single can inline between the PCV valve and intake manifold. The PCV valve sits on the front RH side of the engine on top of the valve cover.
  • Dual Catch Can Kit (20-0729-FL): PCV and CCV cans together on a bracket mounting in the front LH portion of the engine bay

What You'll Feel

  • A manifold that stays clean instead of collecting sludge after every session
  • Fluid Lock protection: the can cannot overfill and dump contaminants back into the intake
  • A closed system that passes tech and keeps oil smell out of the cabin
  • Easy inspection through the O-ring sealed dipstick
  • Bolt-in mounting on factory holes

Features

  • Patented Fluid Lock system preventing reservoir overfill
  • Large 10AN ORB ports and a 4AN ORB drain port
  • 2-step oil separation baffling
  • O-ring sealed dipstick for checking accumulated fluid
  • Vehicle specific brackets mounting to factory holes
  • No cutting, drilling, or permanent modification required

The Details

The PCV circuit is the one doing the damage on this engine. When manifold pressure is at or above atmospheric the PCV check valve closes and the hose sees no flow, but at idle, steady cruise, and deceleration it sees metered vacuum, drawing crankcase vapour, unspent fuel, and oil sludge straight into the manifold immediately after a high load run. No inline check valve is required, because Radium catch cans are pressure sealed.

Two install constraints matter. The dual kit's bracket is NOT compatible with the factory air box, so that kit assumes an aftermarket intake. And on RHD Fairlady Z33 cars, the hood switch needs to be addressed during installation; Radium's instructions cover it.

There is no fixed emptying interval. Check the dipstick at three to four weeks and set your own schedule, noting PCV cans typically collect more than CCV cans.

Kit Includes

  • Fluid Lock catch can with dipstick, or two cans on the dual kit
  • Vehicle specific mounting bracket
  • Hose, hose ends, and adapter fittings
  • Stainless steel mounting hardware

Applications

  • 2003-2009 Nissan 350Z (Z33) and Fairlady (Z33)
  • Nissan Skyline (V35)
  • 2003-2007 Infiniti G35 (V35)

Important Notes

  • Radium's compatibility list excludes VQ35HR engines, though the dual kit is titled VQ35DE/HR. If you have an HR, confirm fitment before ordering.
  • The dual kit bracket is NOT compatible with the factory air box
  • RHD Fairlady Z33: the hood switch needs to be addressed during installation
  • No inline check valve needed; the cans are pressure sealed
