Description

On boost, the VR38's PCV valve slams shut and every bit of blow-by exits through the head breathers, straight toward two turbo inlets.

The GT-R's crankcase has three escape routes, and protecting one leaves two feeding oil to the turbos and intercoolers. The Radium Engineering Catch Can Kits for the Nissan R35 GT-R cover all of them: the PCV kit (20-0565-FL) mounts near the brake master cylinder inline between the PCV valve and the intake manifold, the dual CCV kit (20-0555-FL) puts one can on each head breather line between the crankcase vent ports and the turbo inlets, and the triple kit (20-0566-FL) runs all three cans for the most protection Radium offers the platform. Factory holes, no cutting or drilling, closed loop, and emissions and track legal.

What You'll Feel

  • Both turbo inlets and intercoolers protected from head-breather oil under boost, when it matters most on a VR38
  • The intake manifold kept clean during the vacuum conditions the PCV circuit serves
  • Cleaner inlet air effectively raising octane on a knock-limited twin-turbo engine
  • Intercooler thermal efficiency preserved instead of degraded by oil film
  • Three-dipstick service checks and closed-loop legality with no vapors reaching the cabin

Features

  • 20-0565-FL PCV kit: single can near the brake master cylinder, inline PCV valve to intake manifold; NOT directly compatible with 08-11 GT-Rs lacking the OEM strut bar
  • 20-0555-FL dual CCV kit: two cans, one per head breather line, inline between crankcase vent ports and turbo inlets
  • 20-0566-FL triple kit: both kits together for maximum coverage
  • Fluid Lock cans: 10AN ORB ports, 4AN ORB drain, 2-step baffling, O-ring sealed dipsticks
  • Pressure sealed cans, so direct intake manifold connection is permitted with no added check valve
  • Current kits use swiveling stainless steel fittings, replacing the discontinued green banjo style

The Details

The load map explains the three-can architecture. Under vacuum at idle, cruise, and deceleration, the PCV valve opens and metered vacuum pulls crankcase vapor toward the manifold, the PCV can's territory. On boost, that valve closes and the entire blow-by volume reverses out the head breathers toward the turbo inlet piping, which is exactly where the two CCV cans sit and why Radium notes the CCV kit alone does not address the PCV side, nor vice versa. Each circuit needs its own interception, and the triple kit is the honest answer for a car that sees boost regularly. Two fitment cautions from Radium: the PCV kit is not directly compatible with 2008-2011 GT-Rs that lack the OEM strut bar, and RHD vehicles may require some mounting modifications. Check dipsticks starting at 3 to 4 weeks; the PCV can typically collects fastest.

Kit Includes

  • Selected configuration: PCV kit (1 can), CCV kit (2 cans), or triple kit (3 cans)
  • Fluid Lock catch can(s) with O-ring sealed dipsticks
  • R35-specific mounting brackets, hoses, swiveling stainless fittings, and hardware

Applications

  • 2009-2019 Nissan GT-R R35 (VR38DETT)
  • PCV kit: requires the OEM strut bar (not directly compatible with 08-11 cars without it)
  • RHD vehicles: some mounting modifications may be required
