Radium Engineering Catch Can Kit | BMW 135i 335i 535i N54 (20-0373-FL)
Product details
Description
The N54 is famous for blow-by, and every bit of it goes back through the intake unless something catches it.
The Radium Engineering Fluid Lock catch can kit for the BMW 135i, 335i, and 535i N54 pulls oil and water condensation out of the crankcase gases before they reach the intake, keeping the charge pipes, intercooler walls, throttle body, and manifold clean. It is a closed loop system, so it does not vent to atmosphere: filtered air routes back into the engine to be burned, which keeps it emissions and track legal and keeps oil smell out of the cabin. The kit secures to the OEM power steering reservoir mount with no cutting or drilling.
What You'll Feel
- Clean charge pipes and intercooler instead of the oil film every N54 accumulates
- Consistent performance from cleaner inlet air rather than a progressively fouled charge
- Fluid Lock protection: the can cannot overfill and dump contaminants back into the intake
- A closed system that passes tech and does not smell inside the car
- A bolt-on install using the factory power steering reservoir mount
Features
- Patented Fluid Lock system preventing reservoir overfill
- 7 fluid ounce capacity with O-ring sealed dipstick
- Large 10AN ORB inlet and outlet ports, 4AN ORB drain port
- 2-step oil separation baffling
- N54 specific billet 10AN adapter fittings that eliminate any need to modify OEM vent tubing
- Laser cut BMW specific aluminum mounting bracket
- Direct fitment, no drilling required
- SEMA certified 49-state legal
The Details
Two details make this kit worth its price over a generic can. The N54 specific billet 10AN adapter fittings mate to the factory vent tubing as-is, so nothing gets cut or spliced, and the kit ships with enough 10AN PCV hose to suit modified cars where the routing has already changed. Because the system is closed rather than vented to atmosphere, it also promotes negative crankcase pressure rather than simply dumping vapor.
There is no fixed emptying interval. Check the dipstick at three to four weeks of driving and set your own schedule from what you find. If collection is excessive, look at the engine rather than the can: blowby from wear, an over-full oil level causing windage, poor breather port placement, or a PCV valve not closing under load. Where there is clearance beneath the can, the petcock drain kit allows draining in place instead of unscrewing the reservoir.
