Description

The 4G63 was blowing oil into intakes before most of its current owners had licenses.

The Radium Engineering Catch Can Kit for the 1996-2000 Mitsubishi Evo 4-6 ends the tradition: a Radium catch can with 2-step oil separation baffling plumbed into the CN9A/CP9A crankcase ventilation, keeping oil and sludge out of the intake tract, throttle body, and intercooler on a platform that has been boosting hard since 1996. Closed-loop routing keeps the system emissions and track legal.

What You'll Feel

  • The intercooler and intake staying clean on a turbo four famous for blow-by
  • Detonation margin preserved, with oil mist out of the charge on a knock-sensitive 4G63
  • Sludge prevented in the intake path a tuned Evo depends on
  • Simple dipstick service, checked at 3 to 4 weeks initially
  • Emissions and track legality from the closed-loop routing

Features

  • Catch can kit for the 1996-2000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 4, 5, and 6 (CN9A/CP9A, 4G63T)
  • Radium catch can: 10AN ORB ports, 4AN ORB drain, 2-step baffling, O-ring sealed dipstick
  • Closed loop; does not vent to atmosphere
  • Chassis-specific mounting, fittings, hoses, and hardware

The Details

The 4G63T's blow-by story is boost and age together, with the iron-block four generating real crankcase flow under load since new and a quarter century of ring wear adding to it, while the intercooled charge path gives escaped oil somewhere expensive to accumulate: film in the core costs charge temperature, and charge temperature is the 4G63's knock margin. Radium's pressure-sealed can design permits manifold-connected routing without an extra check valve, and the Fluid Lock generation's baffling holds collected fluids down under the cornering loads Evos exist for. Drain on the dipstick's schedule; excessive collection is the early warning an aging engine gives.
