Product details

Keep the eight-speed. The Ti8HP brings the ZF 8HP automatic into the Haltech ecosystem, pairing the gearbox with a drive-by-wire Nexus ECU or VCU. Haltech previewed it at SEMA 2026 and is planning release in the first quarter of 2027, date to be confirmed.

Why It Matters

The Ti8HP is not a transmission controller. The gearbox's own control unit still makes the shifts. The Haltech sends the signals the gearbox needs, such as engine torque, and the Ti8HP handles the connection between them. It reads the original gearbox binary and flashes the Haltech binary through the Haltech system, so no third party software or reflash tools are needed.

The 8HP control unit talks CAN at the OEM rate of 500 kb/s while Haltech CAN runs at 1 Mb/s. The Ti8HP keeps them separated, so you do not have to give up one of your ECU's CAN ports to the gearbox, and that port stays free for ABS, a BCM, a factory dash or other devices.

The Details

  • SKU: HT-196004
  • Pre-terminated harness included, plugs straight into the transmission connector on Haltech terminated harnesses
  • Can also be wired into any other drive-by-wire Nexus ECU or VCU
  • Runs and drives as per factory out of the box; adjust the prefilled torque table, then tune shift feel from the ECU
  • Tunable: torque value (line pressure and clamping force), shift load correction, upshift torque reduction, downshift throttle opening
  • Transmission fault codes show on the ECU
  • Haltech is aiming to add trans brake, clutch control and custom shift points at a later date

Applications

Transmissions: ZF 8HP45, 8HP70 and 8HP90 (Gen 1). Gen 2 support is planned for later.

Engine management: Nexus R series, Nexus S series, Nexus Rebel or Nexus Plug-in ECU with electronic throttle control set up. The 8HP has no one-way clutches, so every downshift needs a throttle blip to match revs. That is why a drive-by-wire ECU is required and T series ECUs are not supported.

Plug and play with: Nexus Rebel terminated harnesses such as Rebel LS, Rebel JZ, Rebel K, R3 Barra and R3 RB.

Shifters: factory BMW F series and G series (up/down shift), factory Toyota Supra A90, wired-in paddle shifters, a CAN keypad or a resistor ladder.
