The Details

A PTFE liner under nylon braid is the endgame wall for aggressive fluids: E85, methanol blends, and long fuel soak that slowly hardens rubber leave PTFE untouched, and it carries significantly higher temperature and pressure capability than rubber-lined hose. Sizing follows AN convention, where the dash number tracks the hose inside diameter, so match hose size to hose end size exactly and match both to the flow the system needs; fuel feed lines step up with horsepower while return, vent, and breather lines can run smaller. Cut with dedicated hose shears for a square, unfrayed end, wrap the cut line before cutting braided hose, and seat the hose fully into its end before assembly. PTFE liner is stiffer than rubber and holds a set, so respect its larger minimum bend radius and plan sweeps, not corners; the matching PTFE-specific hose ends are mandatory, as rubber-hose ends will not seal the liner. Buy the roll length that covers the whole project plus a mock-up allowance; splices are just extra leak points wearing a disguise.
