The Finish Line Factory NPT Weld Bung (Stainless Steel) is stainless steel parent stock machined into a female NPT bung in 1/2" NPT, 1/4" NPT, 1/8" NPT, 3/8" NPT, giving welded assemblies a standard tapered port. Match the stainless steel to your parent metal and weld with confidence.

The Details

Weld bungs live or die on material match: steel to steel, stainless to stainless, aluminum to aluminum, because dissimilar welds crack under thermal cycling. Tapered ports welded into place then get standard NPT practice: sealant on the male fitting, off the lead thread. Weld in stages on thin walls, chase threads after cooling, and pressure-test before the system sees service.
