Description

If the car ends up on its roof, the fuel tank vent should not become a fuel tank faucet.

Vent lines must breathe upright and seal inverted, and gravity runs the mechanism. The Finish Line Factory In-Tank Rollover Valve uses a ball check that flows freely right-side-up and closes by gravity in a rollover, in 06 AN, 08 AN, 10 AN. Required by many sanctioning bodies, particularly with non-factory tanks. The vent that knows which way is down.

Benefits

  • The vent breathes normally through every hard lap
  • Tech inspection stops asking questions about the fuel cell vent
  • In the worst moment, fuel stays where it belongs by physics alone
  • Installation is ordinary AN plumbing on an extraordinary safety margin

Features

  • Gravity-operated ball check: open upright, closed inverted
  • Sizes: 06 AN, 08 AN, 10 AN
  • In-tank mounting on the vent path
  • Required by many sanctioning bodies with non-factory fuel tanks
  • Prevents fuel escape through the vent during rollover
  • Sold individually

The Details

A fuel system's vent is its one deliberately open path, and in a rollover it becomes a siphon unless something closes it. The ball check here does exactly that: upright, the ball rests clear and vapor flows; inverted, the ball seats by its own weight and the vent seals. Orientation is therefore everything, so mount the valve vertical per its flow direction, plumb it into the vent line at the tank, and route the vent's exterior discharge per your sanctioning body's rules. Rulebooks commonly mandate rollover protection on any car running a fuel cell; fit it before the tech line asks, because the alternative scenario is the one nobody gets to re-run.
