The Details

Heat kills lines by degrees: rubber hardens, braid discolors, insulation embrittles, all before anything visibly fails. Sleeving interrupts the exposure, wrapping the line in an insulating barrier that takes the radiant and convective load itself. Size the ID over the line's OD including fittings where the sleeve must pass them, cut cleanly, and seal the ends with heat shrink sealing tube so hot air cannot creep up the annulus, the detail that separates insulated from decorated. Turbo oil drains, wastegate reference lines, starter wiring past headers, and fuel lines crossing hot zones are the standard patients. The roll format sleeves by the project, not the piece.
