Fixed NPT elbows stop wherever the taper decides, which is rarely the direction your hose needs to go. The Finish Line Factory AN to NPT Adapter - 90 Degree Swivel separates sealing from aiming: the tapered NPT end torques fully into the port while the 90 degree AN head rotates freely to match your routing. Machined from 6061 aluminum with a black anodized finish, offered in 3AN through 16AN with 1/8" through 1" NPT. Torque it, spin it, done.

The Details

Tapered threads have one honest flaw: the seal and the stopping point are the same event. Torque a fixed elbow properly and it points wherever it points; back it off to aim it and you've loosened the seal. A swivel body solves that by putting a rotating joint between the sealed base and the AN head, so port sealing and hose aiming become two independent jobs. Install the NPT end with sealant like any tapered fitting, keeping the lead thread clean, then rotate the head to your line and assemble the AN side dry against the 37 degree flare. The rotating joint relies on its internal seal rather than metal contact, so confirm seal compatibility before running aggressive fuels like E85 through it. Hold the body flats with an aluminum wrench while torquing the hose end so the swivel joint isn't asked to react the assembly torque. It costs more than the fixed 90, and it's worth it exactly when clocking matters: sensor-heavy manifolds, tight transmissions, anywhere a few degrees of aim decides whether the hose clears.
