Description

The flare does the sealing; the sleeve makes sure it survives the nut.

Flared hardline joints are three-part systems: tube, sleeve, nut. The Finish Line Factory Tube Sleeve is the sleeve, spreading nut load across the back of the flare, machined from high quality 6061 aluminum, anodized black, in 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1". Pair with the matching nut and the flare seals like it should.

Benefits

  • The flare draws into its seat evenly instead of crushing at one edge
  • Threads run smooth with the light, precise feel of machined aluminum
  • Matched anodizing keeps visible tube joints looking deliberate
  • Reflaring a botched end costs minutes when the hardware is on hand

  • Machined 6061 aluminum, black anodized
  • Sizes: 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1"

The Details

In a flared tube joint, the flare itself is the sealing surface, pressed against the fitting's cone by the nut, with the sleeve between them so the nut's rotation and load never work directly on the thin flare. Skip the sleeve and the flare distorts; mismatch the sizes and nothing lines up. Assembly order is unforgiving in the best way: nut on first, sleeve second, then flare the tube, because nobody has ever flared first and gotten the hardware on after. Slide both up the tube, flare, inspect the flare for evenness and cracks, then draw the joint together with the fitting backed up. Buy spares; the learning curve on flaring is real and hardware is cheaper than tubing.
