The Details

Quick connects hold with a sprung plastic collar that grips the male fitting's barb ridge, and that collar is the wear item: pried at with screwdrivers, aged by heat, or cracked in a careless disconnect, it eventually loses its spring. The machined aluminum body underneath is fine, so replacement is the insert alone: remove the old clip, snap the new one home, and verify engagement with a firm pull test before pressurizing. Match the insert size to the fitting size, and treat a pull test as mandatory; a quick connect that isn't clicked is a fuel line waiting to depart.
