Water Injection Wiring

Nexus Series Firmware Help › Engine Functions › Water InjectionUpdated Sep 2026

The water injection wiring node in NSP is short, but it decides two important things: which output runs the pump or solenoid, and whether you have a switch to shut the system off.

Options

Water Injection Safety Cut Off enables a cut off switch. With it on, the driver can disable water injection, which is handy if the tank is empty, you're diagnosing a problem, or you're driving in conditions where you don't want it spraying. We fit one on most builds.

Connections

ConnectionTypical input/output
Water injection outputA DPO (Digital Pulsed Output)
Cut off switch input (if enabled)An AVI or SPI, or a button on a CAN keypad if one is fitted

A DPO switches to ground, so it controls the pump or solenoid through its ground side. High-current pumps should be run through a relay rather than directly from the ECU. For the switch, a CAN keypad saves running another wire through the car.

After wiring

Test the output from NSP with the engine off and confirm the pump or solenoid responds, then check the cut off switch actually stops it. The tuning side is covered in water injection and water injection advanced.
