RADIUM DOES NOT OFFER A WARRANTY ON ANY FUEL PUMPS! SEE TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MORE INFORMATION.
A fuel surge tank (FST) is designed to prevent fuel starvation to the engine on vehicles with inadequate fuel tank baffling. The FST fuel pump(s) directly feed the fuel rail(s). The volume of fuel inside the surge tank acts as a buffer to always keep the FST pump supplied with fuel. This volume is maintained by the main fuel tank's pump as well as the fuel returning from the fuel pressure regulator. Excess fuel in the surge tank is returned back to the vehicle's main fuel tank.
The surge tank also provides a quick and easy way to upgade any standard fuel system without the need to modify the stock fuel tank or pump. This is an excellent fueling solution for vehicles installing large fuel demand power upgrades such as forced induction.
All Fuel Surge Tanks Include:
-Extruded and Machined Aluminum 1.5 Liter Canister
-Bright Dipped Anodized and Laser Engraved Housing
-Removeable O-Ring Sealed Billet Aluminum Caps
-6AN O-Ring Fittings (8AN can be purchased separately HERE)
-Circular Bulkhead Electrical Connector with 24" Flying Leads
-Corrosive Resistant Stainless Steel Hardware
All pumps mount internally using gasoline, ethanol, and methanol resistant wiring. For dual-pump configurations, each pump is wired independently. All hoses are submersible and E85 safe. The pump outlet fitting(s) are available in -6AN male size only (shown in green).
The other ports can be adapted to other -AN sizes using adapters (sold separately).
How to Select Your Fuel Surge Tank Configuration
Determine if your application will require one or two pumps. This is based on determining how much fuel flow the engine will need. Next, decide if the pump(s) will be purchased through Radium Engineering (pump included) or elsewhere (pump not included). Use the drop-down menu to make your selection. NOTE: When pump(s) are included, the FST comes fully asssembled and is ready to be installed in the vehicle. When purchasing without pumps, use the included instructions and/or this video HERE to aid in the assembly. Next, select the fuel pump model that will be used from the options shown. If you are unsure which pump will be best for the application, CLICK HERE for an unbiased performance test of some of the fuel pumps we offer. Walbro GSS342 255LPH Pump
This FST can be configured for single or dual pumps. For single pump FSTs, the fuel entering must be filtered. For a triple pump FST using these pumps, please go to the Radium Multipump FST page. Shown below is the dual pump variation.
Walbro F90000274 E85 Pump
This surge tank comes in a single pump version only. Please check out the Radium Multipump FST if more than 1 pump is required. Shown below is the internal structure of this surge tank (shown without the canister).
AEM 50-1200 E85 Pump
This FST can be configured for single or dual pumps. For single pump FSTs, the fuel entering must be filtered. For a triple pump FST using these pumps, please go to the Radium Multipump FST page. Shown below is the dual pump variation.
Deatschwerks DW400 9-401 Pump
This surge tank comes in a single version only. To purchase the DW400 9-401 fuel pump, go HERE. NOTE: The Bosch equivalent (P/N: BR540) does NOT have an integrated check valve.
Ti Automotive E5LM Brushless Pump
This FST requires a Ti Automotive E5LM brushless pump and fuel controller to operate. See Ti Automotive BKS1000
NOTE: This pump does not have an integrated check valve.
Mounting Hardware
The fuel surge tank can be mounted anywhere in the vehicle. However, mounting near collision prone areas, heat sources, or moving parts such as suspension components should be avoided. Note: All of the single pump FSTs listed above can be mounted anywhere from vertical to horizontal. However, the dual pump FSTs cannot be mounted completely horizontal because the pickups are on opposing sides of one another internally. Choose a bracket below that best fits the application.
Floor and Wall Mount - This bracket is laser cut from aluminum and powder coated black and can be mounted on the side or bottom of the surge tank.
Frame Mount - Because this bracket has a 90deg formed bend and is cantilevered, it is constructed from steel for superior strength. It is not only nickel plated to resist corrosion, it also allows for components to be grounded to the spare hole in the bracket. This assumes the bracket is mounted to an electrically conductive material such as a steel frame.
Angled Mount - This mounting bracket is used for vehicles that may have a limited mounting height. It can be mounted on a floor and against a wall. This bracket is made from laser cut aluminum and powder coated black.
